My brother just sent me this link (click on the image). Nuri Bilge Ceylan is a Turkish photographer and award-winning film director (he's probably a familiar name to some, but I'm afraid I don't keep up with cinema), who currently has an exhibition at the National Theatre in London. You have to see these pictures!

It’s really a wonderful photos taken by artist, and films director. This is what we talk always to our Bahraini photographers, that they should watch the films, coz the pictures are there, and we can learn more. Not only holding a camera and trying to find a beautiful places/faces to take there Pictures! It’s the same long dialog about “haram” and “halal” going to the cinema!! Just asked any Bahraini photographers when was the last film he/she saw?
That's an interesting point, nassar, which I hadn't thought about - learning visually from cinema, and the problems related to that in some societies. I think in any case we all have internal blocks on how we see what is around us, and it takes a lot of effort to break out of our established patterns of viewing.
